Update 24/02/2006
All our auction items have been sold so we are now in a position to announce our final total of 2106 pounds! We will present a cheque for £702 to each of our charities over the coming weeks. Thanks to everyone who has helped out, we could not have done it without all the kind donations of money and time that so many people have made. The hosting agreement for this site will end next week so we will be offline for a short time. We hope to be back online soon using a free hosting service but just in case we never come back - thanks again and goodbye!
The Mission....
Between the 10th - 19th June 2005, two men (Ian Saberton and Ian Preston) travelled to 158 football grounds in the space of one (decimal) week.
The Grounds....
Starting at the mighty Stafford Rangers' Marston Road ground on the 10th the tour visited all 92 premiership/football league grounds plus all of the Nationwide Conference grounds plus (fairly astonishingly) all of the grounds that make up the conference's two feeder leagues (conference north and south).
The Reasons....
To support our charities, STRIPES (the Stafford Rangers Independent Supporters Trust, which raises funds to assist the survival of Conference North club Stafford Rangers, for more info click here), Mind a charity that works to provide a better life for everyone with experience of mental distress and Macmillan cancer relief. We hope that through charitable donations we will be able to provide a significant donation to all three causes.
How You Can Help....
We still need your donations, you can donate directly via the web-site using a credit card or you can send your donations directly to us, click the 'Donate' button at the left hand side of the screen or the 'Make A Donation' link for further details. The main focus of our fund raising was to get people to sponsor every ground we visited. Every ground that we visited on our tour has it's own dedicated page on this web site. The page contains details about the ground, directions to the ground and a picture of us standing outside the ground.
Even though the tour is now over it's still possible to sponsor a ground retrospectively, see the 'Sponsor A Ground' page for more details. In addition to all of that we collected a number of signed items/memoribillia as we toured the grounds which we're auctioning off via ebay in order to boost our final total. Vist the 'Auctions' page to find out more.
