Day 2 of the route, 281 miles travelled previously, 480 further miles travelled during the course of the day.

In terms of miles travelled this was the longest day of the tour by quite some distance (480 miles). I think we were both worried as to how long it would take especially as it had taken us 14 hours to travel 180 fewer miles on the previous day. In the end we did OK, traffic was much better than it had been the on the first day and we were able to visit all the grounds in around 14 hours. Finishing the day in one piece and before midnight (just) gave us a bit of confidence that it may be possible to complete the tour in time - something we had certainly been doubting after the first day!
