Sponsor A Ground
Our main aim was to find a sponsor for each of the 158 grounds we visited, we asked for a minimum donation of £10 to sponsor each ground. There is a page on the web site dedicated to each of the grounds we visited, the page features details about the ground including directions, our estimated ETA and a picture of us standing outside the ground. If people did decide to sponsor a ground we offered to dedicate the ground's page on this site to them. Two types of dedications were offered, for companies we offered to display their company logo (or anything else they wished to use) on the page containing the ground's details, for private individuals we offered to hold an A3(ish) size piece of paper (or white board as it turned out) containing a message of their choice when we got our picture taken outside the ground. Our original sales pitch went as follows -
"If, for example, you met your wife (who's called Kate) in Hucknall and your name is Terry we could hold a sign up outside Hucknall's ground saying 'Terry loves Kate'. What could be more romantic than a badly written message on a piece of A3 paper being held up outside a non-league football ground by two blokes you've probably never seen before ? Similarly, if you don't like someone we're equally happy to hold up negative messages (nothing too libelous though!) and we obviously don't want to display any messages that are in any way offensive so please keep any negative messages lighthearted and not too personal. If you are unsure about the suitability of your message please contact us before submitting it"
In retrospect, the sales pitch was rubbish, but despite that many generous people still helped us out and sponsored grounds. There were however a few grounds that did not get sponsored and we are now offering the chance to sponsor these grounds retrospectively
Sponsoring a ground retrospectively is easy, simply select the ground you want to sponsor from the list below (only grounds that have not yet been sponsored will appear in the list), then enter your name, e-mail address and the message you want displayed in to the fields below and click the 'Submit' button. You'll then be taken to our payments page that will either allow you to input your credit card details or give details of how to send your payment directly to us. All payments are handled securely using PayPal. Once you have submitted your message and payment details we will 'subtly' modify the picture of us outside the ground to include your message.
